Julio Montes Taracena of Guatemala served as a member of the World Scout Committee.

In 1977, Montes was awarded the 120th Bronze Wolf, the only distinction of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, awarded by the World Scout Committee for exceptional services to world Scouting.[1] He was also a recipient of the Silver World Award.

Was a member of the World Organization Movement (WOSM)which is the largest international Scouting organization and its legal seat in Geneva, Switzerland.

The WOOM’s mission is to contribute to the education of young people based on Scout Promise and Scout Law, to help build a better world where these people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society. WOSM is organized into regions and operates with a Conference, committee and bureau.
