Julia Kadel

Julia Kadel (born 1986 in Berlin-Kreuzberg) is a German jazz pianist and composer.[1]

Biography

Kadel started to play the piano at seven years of age. First she studied classical piano and took up jazz at 15. She also studied psychology at the Humboldt University of Berlin and in 2009-2014 she performed diploma studies of the jazz piano at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden.

She led a trio with the German-Norwegian bassist Karl-Erik Einmann (born 1987), and Dresden drummer Steffen Roth (born 1989). In 2014, the debut album Im Vertrauen featured Blue Note Records/Universal. It was presented at the Überjazz Festival in Hamburg, and was awarded the first jazz prize from Hochschule für Musik Saar in 2013.[2]
