Judy D. Olian is an Australian-born American academic. She is the President of Quinnipiac University as of July 1, 2018.

Early life

Judy D. Olian was born in Australia, where she grew up.[1] She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.[1][2][3] She went on to receive a Masters of Science degree and a PhD in Industrial Relations from the University of Wisconsin.[1][2][3]

Career

Olian was a professor and senior associate dean of the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.[1][2] She served as the Dean of the Smeal College of Business at Pennsylvania State University from 2001 to 2006, where she was a Professor of Management.[1][2]

Olian has served as the Dean of the UCLA Anderson School of Management since January 2006, where she holds the John E. Anderson Chair in Management.[1][2][3] In 2008, she was the Chairman of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.[1][2]

Olian serves on the Board of Directors of Ares Management, an investment firm based in Los Angeles, and the United Therapeutics Corporation.[4][5][6] Additionally, she serves on the Board of Advisors of Catalyst, a non-profit organization which promotes an inclusive workplace for women.[7] She serves on the Council of Advisors of the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney.[1]

Olian is a recipient of an American Council on Education Fellowship and the Maryland Association for Higher Education Award for Innovation.[1]

On January 29, 2018, Olian was announced as the new President of Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, replacing Dr. John Lahey, effective July 1st, 2018.
