Jude Thaddeus Okolo (born 18 December 1956 in Kano, Nigeria) is an archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church and Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland following his appointment by Pope Francis on 13 May 2017. He has previously served as Apostolic Nuncio to the Dominican Republic and Apostolic Delegate to Puerto Rico from October 2013 to May 2017. Prior to that Archbishop Okolo aseved as Apostolic Nuncios to Chad and the Central African Republic from August 2008 to October 2013.[1]

Priesthood

Jude Thaddeus Okolo was ordained a priest by Archbishop Arinze on 2 July 1983. He was sent to Rome where he undertook his post-graduate studies and obtained a doctorate in Canon Law. Apart from his native Igbo, Archbishop Okolo is fluent in English, French, Italian, Spanish and German. He joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1990 and was appointed to Sri Lanka. Subsequently, he served in diplomatic missions and nunciatures in Haiti, the Antillean Islands (where he was also accredited to other minor Caribbean island nations), Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Australia. On the 2 August 2008, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to the Central African Republic and Chad, and on 7 October 2013, he was appointed as Apostolic Nuncio to the Dominican Republic and Apostolic Delegate in Puerto Rico.
