Joseph S. Clark High School
Joseph S. Clark Preparatory High School is a high school in Tremé, New Orleans, Louisiana.[1] It opened in 1947 as the first high school below Canal Street to educate colored children in New Orleans.[2] It was named after Joseph S. Clark, the first president of the Southern University at Baton Rouge.[3] The Rebirth Brass Band was formed at the high school in 1983.[1] Firstline Schools is the charter organization operating Clark.[4] The school will close after the 2018 - 2019 school year.[5]
