José Carlos Maltos is a professional gridiron football placekicker for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was originally signed by the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL) in 2013, but was released following training camp. He played college football for UANL.

Biography

Maltos was born in Monterrey, Mexico, on August 18, 1991. He grew up playing soccer, but began to play American football as a high school student in Monterrey. Maltos represented Mexico in Europe at the 2011 IFAF World Championship.[1]

He was a kicker for the football team at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, where he studied mechanical engineering.[2] After working out in front of NFL scouts at Southern Methodist University, Maltos was signed by the New Orleans Saints in May 2013.[1] He was released by the team in early August.[3]

Maltos was signed as a free agent by the BC Lions on May 18, 2018.[4]
