Jonathan Rashleigh (1693–1764)

Menabilly

Jonathan Rashleigh (19 January 1693 24 November 1764) was a British politician from Cornwall. [1]

He was born at Menabilly, near Fowey in Cornwall, the youngest son of Jonathan Rashleigh (1642–1702), MP. His brother was Philip Rashleigh, MP.

He was a co-heir (with his great-nephew Reginald Pole Carew (1753–1835)) of his half first-cousin Sir Coventry Carew, 6th Baronet (died 1748) of Antony, from whom he inherited several manors in Cornwall.

He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Fowey from 1727 until his death in 1764, always voting as a Tory.

He had married Mary, daughter of Sir William Clayton, 1st Baronet and had 9 sons and 4 daughters.
