John Withals

John Withals was an English lexicographer.[1]

Life

He was born and raised in London.

Career

He was originally a schoolmaster.[1]

He was a contemporary of Peter Levens and Richard Huloet.

He was the author of one of the first English-Latin vocabulary for children.[1]

In 1556 he published A Short Dictionary for Young Beginners[2]
