John Summers High School

John Summers High School (formerly Deeside High School) was an English medium mixed comprehensive secondary school in the town of Queensferry, Wales, near the border with England. It closed on the 21st July 2017. [1]It taught children aged 11-18. Sixth form education, (16-18), was provided through the Deeside Consortium, a group of three local high schools and the nearby sixth form college although Deeside College has now withdrawn from this consortium. Its Local Education Authority is Flintshire County Council.

The last Headteacher was Mrs. P Stanford, the assistant Deputy was Mr B Davies. The last head of key stage 3 is Miss K Jones and the last head of key stage 4 is Mrs J Bellis. Previous headteachers were; Mr M A Rashud, Mrs Hewlett-Parker, Mr R Waterfield, Mr N Stewart.

The building has three stories and approximately 30 teaching rooms. The Maths department is on the second floor. History and languages are on the first.

The 2006 GCSE results saw all students leaving the school with at least four GCSEs.

During the four years prior to closure, the school had put on four school productions, they were; - Our Day Out, Grease, Back to the 80's and We Will Rock You.

In 2011, John Summers received an ESTYN report, and came out with a good and an excellent.[2]
