John Simpson (27 October 1918 – 21 June 2000) was an English-born footballer who played as a left back in The Football League in the 1940s and 1950s.[1][2]

He started his league career with Huddersfield Town and then moved to York City, first playing for them in 1947–48. He went on to play over 200 games for the Minstermen.[1]

In April 1970 he was appointed manager of Football League Fourth Division side Hartlepool, and he remained as manager until March 1971.[3]
