John McGuirk (Irish: Seán Mac Cuirc; born 2 March 1984) is an Irish media adviser, political commentator and pro-life campaigner. He was the communications director for the Save the 8th campaign[1], which unsuccessfully campaigned for a No vote in the 2018 Irish abortion referendum. The referendum was passed on 25 May 2018 by a majority of 66.4%.

He was communications director for Libertas Institute, which campaigned for, and won, a No vote in the 2008 Irish referendum on the Lisbon Treaty. He spoke on national radio[2] advocating for a No vote. Libertas was the most prominent voice in the No campaign. The Treaty was rejected by voters on 12 June 2008 by a margin of 53.4% to 46.6%, with a turnout of 53.1%.[3]

He ran in 2011 Irish general election for Cavan–Monaghan for the New Vision electoral alliance, receiving 2.4% of the first preference votes and being eliminated on the second count.[4] McGuirk previously held the position of Eastern Area Officer of the Union of Students in Ireland in 2006/2007. He ran unsuccessfully for president of the USI in 2007. McGuirk appears regularly on Irish broadcast media as a conservative voice on social and political issues. Shows he has appeared on include The Last Word, Tonight with Vincent Browne, The Tonight Show and The Right Hook.
