John Dumelo (born 3 February 1984) is a Ghanaian actor.[1][2][3] He was nominated for categories Most Promising Actor and Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the 6th and 7th Africa Movie Academy Awards respectively.[4][5][6][7] On 1 April 2014, he became the first Ghanaian citizen to hit a million likes on Facebook.[8][9][10][11]

Personal life

Dumelo attended Christ the King School in Accra for his basic education. He started out as a child actor in the early 90s in a movie called Baby Thief. He had his secondary education at Achimota School and further studied at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he studied Civil Engineering. John Dumelo is married to Gifty Mawunya Nkornu.[12]

Business ventures

Aside being an actor of international recognition, John Dumelo is also an entrepreneur. He launched a clothing line in the early months of 2012. The J. Melo Line as he named it includes collections from jewelry, bags, hoodies, Jeanswear and other clothing accessories. The website for his clothing line was officially launched in 2013 An event that had many celebrities coming through to support.[18]

Engagement in politics

During the National Democratic Congress (Ghana) NDC Party's Campaign In 2016, Dumelo was one of the Most influencial and Outstanding Celibrities who were seen campaining for the NDC Government. Rumours has spread that, as an appreciation for his engagement and patriotism to the Party, he was called and appointed by the former president of Ghana H.E John Dramani Mahama, to serve his Party as a Director of Operations for pro-NDC youth group for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).[19][20][21]
