James Cockburn Hugall (26 April 1889 – September 1927) was an English professional football goalkeeper, best remembered for his 12 years in the Football League with Clapton Orient.[1] He also played league football for Durham City and Hamilton Academical.[1][2]

Personal life

Hugall fought as a corporal with the 17th (Service) Battalion of the Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment) (more popularly known as the 1st Football Battalion) and then with the 12th (Service) Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry during the First World War and was commissioned as lieutenant on 24 July 1916.[3] He was wounded on three occasions.[4]
