Jiansanjiang (Chinese: 建三江; pinyin: Jiànsānjiāng; literally: "built on the Sanjiang Plain") is a town of 230,000 in eastern Heilongjiang province, Northeast China. Established as a nongken farm, it became a town in July 2014.

Agriculture

Being a former agricultural reclamation land (Chinese: 农垦; pinyin: nóngkěn), Jiansanjiang has a rich history of agriculture, and is known for having areas of chernozemic soil.[1] The city is discussed in detail in academic papers on Agriculture in China: notably China Agricultural University has an experimental station looking at rice varieties in the city.[2]

Jiansanjiang is known as China's green rice city,[3] and its Honghe farm (Chinese: 洪河农场; literally: "grand river farm") was the first modernised farm in the whole of China, making use of agricultural drones and other technologies.[4]
