Jessica Rothe (/rɒθ/;[3] born Jessica Rothenberg, May 28, 1987) is an American actress. She may be best known for her lead role in the 2016 MTV television series Mary + Jane and her starring role in the 2017 slasher film Happy Death Day.[4][5]

Early life

Rothe was born in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Susan and Steve Rothenberg.[6] Rothe's father is Jewish.[7][8][9] Her grandmother, Colleen Rothenberg was a theatre actress who belonged to the Congregation Shomrei Torah synagogue in Santa Rosa, California.[10] She took ballet classes when she was age 8.[11] As a youth she attended summer theater camps in Kansas City.[12] Rothe graduated from Boston University in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts,[12] and during that time she learned to play the violin, tap dance and make pottery.
