Jerry Abbott

Jerry Bob Abbott (born April 8, 1942)[1] in Abilene, Texas, is a country music songwriter and record producer from Pantego, Texas. He was also the father of "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott,[2] and Vinnie Paul Abbott, both of Pantera, Rebel Meets Rebel and Damageplan.

Abbott appeared on Pantera's Behind the Music in May 2006, where he spoke about his younger son, Darrell, mostly about how he used to be in the Kiss Army as a child.

He was also the producer on the early Pantera albums Metal Magic (1983), Projects in the Jungle (1984), I Am the Night (1985) and Power Metal (1988). He produced Bugs Henderson Group's "Still Flying".[3]

He was married to Norma Carolyn Abbott from 1962 until her death in 1999.[4] His younger son, Darrell Lance, was murdered in 2004 and his elder son, Vincent Paul, died from a heart attack in 2018.[5]
