Jeremy Ray Meeks (born February 7, 1984) is an American fashion model. Meeks is also a convicted felon and former member of the Crips. He first came to prominence after his arrest in 2014 during a gang sweep called Operation Ceasefire in Stockton, California,[1] after which police posted his mug shot on Facebook and it went viral. Meeks was convicted of federal charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and grand theft.[2] Upon his release from Mendota Federal Correctional Institution in March 2016,[3] Meeks began a modeling career.[4][5]

Early life

Meeks was born in Washington on February 7, 1984, and is the son of Katherine Angier[6] and brother of Emery Meeks.[7]

In 2002, Meeks was charged with robbery and corporal injury to a child. Meeks had violently assaulted a 16-year-old boy when he was 18. After taking a plea deal, he was sentenced to serve two years in a California prison, during which he admitted to being a member of the North Side Gangster Crips.[8]

Modeling career

While still in prison and serving a 27-month sentence, Meeks, dubbed "hot felon" by the media, was discovered by Jim Jordan and signed a modeling contract with White Cross Management.[9]

During New York Fashion Week in February 2017, Meeks made his runway debut.[10] After his appearance, Vogue magazine described him as a "buff bad boy".[11]

In June 2017, he was on the catwalk during Milan Fashion Week, walking for German fashion designer Philipp Plein.[12]

In August 2017, Meeks appeared in a campaign for Israeli sunglasses fashion house Carolina Lemke, partially owned by Bar Refaeli.[13] The campaign tagged Meeks' background as different than Refaeli's, who appeared in the campaign alongside Meeks, stating, "There has never been a mix like this."[14]

In 2018, he appeared in the music video WiFi by Russian pop singer Olga Buzova.[15][16]

Personal life

In June 2017, it was reported that Meeks is in a relationship with Chloe Green, the daughter of businessman Philip Green. On May 29, 2018, Green gave birth to the couple's first son, Jayden Meeks-Green.[17] Meeks also has an older child from his previous marriage to Melissa Meeks.[18]
