Jennifer Stafano is a Republican activist and the Vice President for Americans for Prosperity and Americans for Prosperity Foundation, a conservative organization that is the primary political group of the Koch brothers (Charles Koch and David Koch).

Biography

Stefano, a recent mother and 2004 Emmy-nominated reporter, felt disenfranchised by politics in 2008 when she discovered the nascent Tea Party at a local rally.[1] She would eventually rise through the ranks of the Tea Party. Reflecting her rise in prominence in conservative circles, Stefano spoke at a panel in 2011 at CPAC, Washington's biggest gathering of conservatives,[2] on a panel organized by the Tea Party Express, an organizing group founded by Republican consultants.[3][4] She became a frequent guest on Fox.[5] Stefano eventually became the Pennsylvania State Director for AFP.,[6] the principal political arm of the Koch brothers' network.

Media appearances

Stefano has appeared on several broadcast and cable networks as a host and commentator, and she is a "regular guest on Fox News and Fox Business News"[5] [6] She gained widespread media attention in a confrontation with Bob Beckel on the Hannity Show on April 16, 2012. After Stefano stated that the Head Start Program, which provides safety net assistance to poor children, did not work, Beckel replied, "You don't know what the f*ck you're talking about!" Beckel did not realize the show was back from the commercial break, and initially refused to apologize. When persuaded that the show was, in fact, live, Beckel apologized for his choice of language, but stood by the overall intent of the statement.[7] Beckel's praise for Head Start was supported by education expert Valerie Strauss, who said in response to the Fox segment, "Head Start produces modest benefits including some long-term gains for children."[8]
