Jasper Skytram

The Jasper Skytram from below in 2009

The Jasper Skytram is the highest and longest aerial tramway located in Canada.[1] It was built in 1964 and goes to a height of 2,277 metres (7,470 ft) above sea level. It is 6 kilometres from Jasper, Alberta, and crests The Whistlers Mountain. It is roughly 230 kilometres north of Lake Louise along the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93).

High winds on 25 June 2018 resulted in a power surge that disabled the tram system. 160 visitors were stranded atop Whistlers Mountain, and all were rescued by helicopter by the morning of 26 June. [2]
