Moloney competed in the men's flyweight division at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.[2][3][4]

Moloney’s first fight of the competition was against Michael Conlan (Northern Ireland). He beat Conlan via a points decision on count-back, in one of the best fights of the tournament.[5]

Following the 2014 national amateur championships, Moloney turned professional in August, 2014.[8]

In February 2018, Moloney, along with his twin brother Andrew Moloney, become the first ever Australian brothers to simultaneously reign as Commonwealth champions.[9]

World Boxing Super Series

On July 1 2018, it was announced that Moloney would be entering the second season of the World Boxing Super Series in the bantamweight division, and fighting Emmanuel_Rodríguez for the IBF Bantamweight World Championship[10].
