Janet Braun-Reinitz is a painter, muralist and civil rights activist who participated in the Louisiana Freedom Ride from July 8 to 15, 1961. She was the chair of CORE at Connecticut College and worked at the national office in 1961-62. [1] She is the subject of the documentary, Interview with Janet Braun-Reinitz for the Freedom Riders 40th Anniversary Oral History Project, 2001, published by the University of Mississippi,[2][3] excerpts are included in the film, The Children Shall Lead (2001).[4]
As of 2018, Braun-Reinitz is an active artist and muralist who uses her art to teach about the civil rights movement.[5][6][7]
