Jane Merrick is a journalist, former political editor of The Independent on Sunday and founding member of The Spoon. [1]

Controversy

Michael Fallon

In 2017, Former Defence Secretary, Michael Fallon had been forced to resign in part due to an allegation of inappropriate behavior towards Merrick. Fallon was accused of having "lunged" at Merrick a decade and a half earlier.[2]

Labour

In 2018, Merrick explained she would not vote Labour again until there was a new leader who “undoes the damage Corbyn has inflicted” and that she was leaving the party due to antisemitism. [3] Merrick had previously joined Labour in 2016 to support Angela Eagle in Labour leadership election. [4]

Personal Life

Merrick is married to The Observer's Political Editor, Toby Helm. [5] Born about 1974.[6]
