Jamuna Boro (born 7 May 1997) is an Indian woman boxer from the village of Belsiri, Sonitpur district, Assam.[1][2]

Early life and education

Jamuna Boro was born in Goreswar, Assam. She has an elder brother, a sister and mother who sells vegetables. Her father died when she was ten years old.[3] She attended Arya Vidyapeeth College in Guwahati where she completed her Twelfth grade. She is pursuing Bachelor of Arts from Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College, Dhekiajuli.

Sports career

Before boxing she used to play wushu in her village.[4] In 2009 she was brought to Sports Authority of India, Guwahati for selection trials.[4] She has represented the state Assam and country India on various national and international levels since 2010.[4] She is included in the Elite Womens team.[5] Boro won a silver medal in the 56th Belgrade Winner Tournament.[6][7]. She is scheduled to participate in the AIBA Women World Championships, 15–24 November 2018 in New Delhi.
