James Rodwell (born 23 August 1984) is an English professional rugby sevens player currently in the England Sevens squad.[1] He is the most capped England sevens player of all time. He holds the record for consecutive world 7's series tournaments with 69 in a row. He has played a total of 79 World Sevens Series tournaments. (Second most capped player in the history of Sevens)

Rodwell was born in Wendover. A graduate in Business Commerce at Birmingham University, he began playing rugby at the age of seven at Tring RFC, his local club, and played for Berkhamsted Collegiate School from the age of ten, where he figured at centre and full back.

He played mainly at no8 for the 1sts during his time at university developing into a key member of the leadership group of a club which valued on field performance as well as social development (banter) before moving on to seven aside rugby.

James made his England Sevens debut against the United States at Dubai in 2008 and at his previous Club Moseley was voted the club’s U21 player of the year in 2004-05, the players’ player in 2006-07 and supporters’ player in 2008-09.

Representative honours came thick and fast on his rise with Hertfordshire Schools 18 Group, London & South East U18, captaining North Midlands U20 and representing Midlands U20 foreshadowing appearances for English Universities in 2005, England Counties (2006) and England Sevens.

In the 2010 season James was named IRB player of the tournament in the Dubai leg of the series.

He has represented England in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi where the team finished 4th.[2]
