James Martin (born 13 March 1931) is a Scottish film and television actor, most commonly known for his role as Eric in BBC's Still Game.

Career

He is perhaps most notable for his appearance as Eric in Still Game, a situation-comedy television series, where he was one of the few actors who really was a senior citizen. During the second episode of the eighth series of the show (initially broadcast 15/3/18) Eric was found dead in the local pub 'The Clansman'[1] In addition, he has appeared in at least seven other television productions and five films. He also starred in the 2009 comedy short film 'Relatively PC', directed by David Goodall. In 2014 he made a short appearance in episode 1x02 of Lovesick playing the main characters neighbour. He also appeared in Peter McDougall's Just Another Saturday (1975) under the name of Jimmy Martin.

For many years Martin has lived in Musselburgh, East Lothian and Before and while working on Still Game he was a helper working at Campie Primary School's after-school club in the town.
