James E. Lytle, Jr. (February 22, 1901 in Union County, North Carolina – July 17, 1987 in Raleigh, North Carolina[1]) was an American football coach and head football coach at Arkansas Agricultural, Mechanical & Normal College (Arkansas AM&N)—now known as University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He held that position for the 1930 and 1931 seasons. His coaching record at Arkansas AM&N was 11–4.[2]
In 1975, Lytle was the first person inducted into the Shaw University Athletic Hall of Fame.[3] In 1993, he was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.[4]
