James Charles Dickinson (born May 23, 1999), known colloquially as James Charles, is an American internet personality, makeup artist, and model known for being the first male CoverGirl spokesperson.

Career

Internet personality

James launched his YouTube channel, focusing on makeup, on December 1, 2015 and has over 8.7 million subscribers on his YouTube channel (James Charles) and 700,059,610 views (as of October 9, 2018).[1] His Instagram currently has over 8.4 million followers (as of October 9, 2018).[2] He has 1.73 million followers on Twitter.[3]

Modeling

On October 11, 2016, at the age of seventeen, he became the first male spokesmodel for cosmetics brand CoverGirl, working alongside brand ambassador Katy Perry.[4][5][6][7][8] As the first male spokesmodel and brand ambassador for CoverGirl, Charles will be the face of the soon-to-be launched So Lashy! by BlastPro Mascara.[9][10]

In 2017, Charles walked the runway for MarcoMarco's Six 1/2 collection during Los Angeles Fashion Week.[11][12]

Personal life

Charles is from Bethlehem, New York, and graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in June 2017, with CoverGirl's slogan, "Easy, Breezy, Beautiful", emblazoned across his graduation cap.[13][14][15] Charles is openly gay.[16]
