Jagjit Kaur

Jagjit Kaur[1] is an Indian Hindi/Urdu singer and the spouse of the music director, Mohammed Zahur Khayyam. She sang fewer songs for films than her contemporaries like Lata and Asha, yet all of her songs have been described as memorable masterpieces.

Personal life

Jagjit Kaur belonged to a wealthy Punjabi zamindari family. She chose to marry talented upcoming composer Khayyam, forgetting religious differences. They had a son, actor Pradeep Khayaam,[7] who expired in 2012. Khayaamji has started a trust in the name of his wife and son to help artistes and technicians in need.[8]
