Jérémie Carboni is a French producer, director and a political advisor.[1][2] He was born on 28th December 1980 in Châtenay-Malabry, France.[3]

Early life

He lived in France, Greece, Hungary and also in Italy for 6 years where he attended the Lycée français Chateaubriand in Rome. Then he studied at the Rome University of Fine Arts and at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma before graduating in cinema filmmaking. Carboni also studied Political science.[4]

Film career

Carboni began as a production/development assistant of Stéphane Tchalgadjieff and Danièle Gégauff, producers of film directors Michelangelo Antonioni, Jacques Rivette, Benoît Jacquot, Robert Bresson, Marguerite Duras, Wim Wenders, Wong Kar Wai, Steven Soderbergh, etc.[5] Then he directed music videos for singers Dominique Fidanza and Cynthia Brown (singer) (from TV shows Star Academy and Popstars),[6][7][8] before shooting in 2010 his first documentary: Bartleby en coulisses, on famous writer Daniel Pennac.[9][10] In 2013, he made a TV documentary on a story of electronic music with composers Jean Michel Jarre, Émilie Simon, Teho Teardo, Moriarty (band), François Bayle, etc.[11][12][13] The film has been selected by MusiquePointDoc film festival of La Gaîté Lyrique and screened in Paris on 19th June 2013, before TV broadcasting.[14][15] In 2016, he shot a documentary film on French stylists Marithé et François Girbaud, inventors of Stonewash method, skin-tight jeans, baggy trousers and Wattwash (laser). The film premiere was screened on 4th April 2017 at the Festival international des jeunes créateurs de Dinan.[16] In 2018, he directed a tribute film on French novelist and adacemician Michel Déon, member of the Académie française and of literary movement named Les Hussards, in the 50's.[17] Emmanuel Carrère, Xavier Darcos, Yves Boisset, Jean d'Ormesson, Eric Neuhoff, Milan Kundera, Antoine Gallimard took part in this film.

Theatre career

In 2013, Carboni founded and became the president of Compagnie M.I.A., a theatre company created under the impetus of French writer Daniel Pennac.[24][25]

Personal life

  • His father Jean-Michel Carboni, was a senior executive and management committee member of Engie, the French multinational of natural gas & electricity (turnover: €66,6 billion in 2016). He was also Founder/CEO of ENGIE IT (€600 million in 2013) and in charge of DSI (€1,35 billion in 2012), the IT department of Engie group. In 2018, he is Co-Founder/Chairman of Efthia Consulting, a strategy and business consulting firm.[33][34][2]
  • His grandparents, Jacques et Antoinette Rozenker, were stylists for French artists (Sylvie Vartan, Julien Clerc, Johnny Hallyday, etc) and creators of brands in the 60s, 70s and 80s (Les Créations Sylvie Vartan, 30 Février, etc). They launched in particular French stylists Marithé et François Girbaud.[4]
  • Relationship with Pierre-Bloch family. His cousin David Pierre-Bloch, producer and politician, is the grandson of Jean Pierre-Bloch who was a French resistant, activist and president of the LICRA (International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism) between 1968-1992.[4]
  • His mother was a classical pianist who won numero awards (Nerini competition, Claude Kahn competition, etc).[4]
