Ivo Cutzarida

Ivo Cutzarida (born 29 September 1962 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine actor, politician, and director of film and soap operas. He has produced both Argentine and American soap operas.[1][2]

Biography

Ivo Cutzarida, son of Romanian philosopher Nicolae Cutzarida, was born in the neighborhood of San Isidro, in Buenos Aires. He has two brothers, Alejandro and Rado (1961–1997). His stepmother is the French actress Dominique Sanda. Ivo began his professional career in 1987 with the Argentine soap opera Sin marido and since then has dedicated himself exclusively to acting.[3]

He completed half of law school before dedicating himself to acting. He worked for five years in tribunals, including a brief incursion in political activism, during which period he supported Raúl Alfonsín. He began his studies in theater with Lito Cruz 27 years ago and since then has not stopped working in TV, theater, and film, in more than a dozen countries and in three languages.[4]

He is a lover of boxing and was a good friend of boxer Carlos Monzón.

His original last name in Romanian is Cuțarida.

Television

His career on the small screen began in 1988 when he acted in the soap opera Amándote (Loving You) alongside Arnaldo André, Ana María Campoy, Gabriel Corrado and Constanza Maral. Later came the soap operas Sin Marido (Without a Husband), with Patricia Palmer, Gustavo Garzón, Jean Pierre Noher y Esther Goris, and No va más, with Nora Cárpena, Juan Carlos Dual and Gustavo Bermúdez, in the role of Maximiliano; these last two were written by Alberto Migré.

A year later, Cutzarida played Alberto in the soap opera La extraña dama (The Strange Lady), with Luisa Kuliok, Jorge Martínez, Marta Albertini, and Andrea Barbieri.

In the 1990s, Cutzarida was part of the popular soap opera Una voz en el teléfono, playing Santiago and sharing credits with Raúl Taibo, Carolina Papaleo, Duilio Marzio, and Elizabeth Killian. He also appeared in other soap operas such as Socorro, 5o Año (Help! 5th Year) as the coordinator of the group of graduates and in Los tuyos y los míos (Yours and Mine), broadcast on Channel 9.

In 1991, he was part of the Channel 13 soap opera, Detective de señoras. In 1992, he was in La elegida (The chosen one) as Alberto, alongside Andrea Barber and Juan Darthés. One year later he played Martín in Déjate querer (Let me love you), alongside Catherine Flop, Carlos Mata, Osvaldo Sabatini, and Edda Bustamante, and played Pippo, Father Miguel, in Celeste, siempre celeste, costarring with Andrea Del Boca, Gustavo Bermúdez, Lydia Lamaison, Adela Gleijer, and Norberto Díaz.

In 1994, Cutzarida worked in Grande pa! aired by Telefe and in 1995 in Nueve Lunas (9 Moons) on Channel 13 and La hermana mayor (The Older Sister) on Channel 9.

In 1996, he participated in the soap opera Son cosas de novela with Nora Cárpena, Hugo Arana, Liliana Benard, and Beatriz Día Quiroga, and Poliladron. He also participated in the filming of Adiós, abuelo (Goodbye, grandfather), in which songwriter Jairo, Stella Maris Lanzani, Ricardo Bauleo, and Mónica Gonzaga also acted.

Following a period outside of Argentina, Cutzarida returned in 1997, playing Lucio in the soap opera Carola Casini, starring Araceli González and Juan Palomino, together with Marta González, Florencia Raggi, Federico D'Elía, Pappo, and others.

After thirteen years based in Mexico and the US[5] where he acted in Ángeles (Angels), Legacy como Edward de Sosa, and Tuesdays with Morrie (1999) as Armand, Monsignor Martínez and Noriega: God's Favorite (2000), in the episode "Who Do You Know?" of the series Soul Food (2001), and in Polly and Marie (2007). He returned to Argentina in the soap opera Champs 12 in 2009.

In 2010 he was invited for special participation as Andrés Soriano in the soap opera Malparida, starring Juanita Viale and Gonzalo Heredia and broadcast on El Trece.

In 2012, Cutzarida participated in the tele comedy Graduados (Graduates), starring Nancy Duplaá and Daniel Handler on Telefe. Here Cutzarida played Dr. Fernando Ponte Vedra, the partner of Guillermo (Juan Gil Navarro).

He was also part of the miniseries 23 pares (23 pairs) broadcast on Channel 9 and starring Érica Rivas, María Onetti, and Fabián Vena.

In 2013, he acted in the soap opera Sos mi hombre (You're my man), starring Luciano Castro and Celeste Cid, on El Trece. On this occasion, he played "Facha" Vargas. At the end of the same year, he played one of the antagonists, alongside Jorge Marrale, in the soap opera Taxxi, amores cruzados (Taxxi, criss-crossed loves) on Telefe, starring Gabriel Corrado and Catherine Fulop.

In 2014, Cutzarida was part of the cast of the Telefe soap opera Somos Familia (We are family), starring Gustavo Bermúdez and Ana María Orozco, where he played the role of a franciscan priest who has a daughter.[6]
