Ivan Velić (born October 19, 1972) is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian Croatian basketball coach and former player. He currently serves as a head coach for the Cibona of the Croatian League and the ABA League.

Coaching career

Velić spent most of his coaching career with Široki.[1] He had two stints with Jolly JBŠ of the Croatian League, and in 2016–17 season he won second place in Croatian Cup and he advanced to the playoffs in the Croatian League. On June 21, 2015, Ivan Velić was hired as a new head coach of Slovenian team Krka.[2] In 2018, he coached Sloboda Tuzla.[3][4]

On June 8, 2018, Velić was named a head coach for Croatian team Cibona.[5][6][7][8][9]

National teams

Velić was the head coach in the past of both the Bosnia and Herzegovina national U18 team as well as the Croatian U20 national team.[10] Also, he was an assistant coach for Bosnia and Herzegovina national basketball team under head coach Duško Ivanović.[11] In September 2017, Ivica Skelin invited him to be his assistant in Croatia national team, but Skelin was sacked in March 2018, after poor results.
