Ivan Lukich Sorokin in traditional Kuban cossack costume

Ivan Lukich Sorokin (4 December 1884 - 3 November 1918) was a red cossack of Kuban origin, creator and ataman of first red cossack troops in this region, one of the commanders of Red Army.

Sorokin commanded the 11th Red Army in the North Caucasus. He arranged the execution of his rival commander, Ivan Matveyev on October 7th, 1918. The execution and his reign of terror demoralized the Red armies in the North Caucasus. He would be declared a traitor on October 27th, and was assassinated on November 2nd.[1]
