The Italian Kennel Club[1] (Ente Nazionale della Cinofilia Italiana, Italian National Cynophilia Board), commonly known as ENCI, is the primary kennel club responsible for dog pedigree registration services in Italy.[2]

ENCI provides judging for dog shows and many other services relating to dog showing. The club was founded in 1882[3] and is a full member of the world canine organisation, Fédération Cynologique Internationale.[4] Head office is located in Milan and it has offices in all regions of Italy.

In 2009, ENCI had more than 160,000 dogs listed in its stud books and organised about 400 shows. ENCI gives special attention to the 14 recognised breeds originating in Italy, i.e. the Bergamasco Shepherd, Bolognese, Bracco Italiano, Cane Corso, Cirneco dell'Etna, Italian Greyhound, Lagotto Romagnolo, Maltese, Maremmano-Abruzzese Sheepdog, Neapolitan Mastiff, short-haired and wire-haired Segugio Italiano, Spinone Italiano, Volpino Italiano.[5]

The Italian Breed Dogs Club (Club Italiano Cani di Razza, abbreviated ICBD) is an alternative club, recognised by the World Kennel Union rather than the FCI.[6]
