The Isle of Man Green Party is a green political party in the Isle of Man founded in August 2016 by Andrew Newton.[3] The party is currently led by Andrew Newton[1] and deputy leader Kylie Rollins.

On the 10 August 2018, current chair Andrew Bentley became the party's first elected councillor after winning a by-election in Derby ward on Douglas Borough Council.[1] His term ends in 2020.

Electoral history

Though established in August 2016, the party decided not to endorse any candidates in the general election that September. It has thus not contested any parliamentary seats.

Local government

The party contested a handful of by-elections before picking up its first seat. Andrew Bentley is the first Green to have been elected, winning a seat on the Douglas Borough Council after a by-election.[1]

Elected representatives

The Green Party currently have 2 seats in local government. Green Councillor Andrew Bentley sits on the Douglas Borough Council, having won a by-election in August 2018. The Greens are also represented by Andrew Jessop, a Braddan Parish Commissioner, who was originally elected in an uncontested election in April 2016 as an Independent.
