Plot

Bharath (Arulnithi) is a taxi driver who is in love with Suseela (Mahima Nambiar), a nurse. He is a fan of writer Vyjayanthi (Lakshmy Ramakrishnan), and when she comes in his cab, she notices a man and his bike. She says her late husband had the same bike and died under mysterious circumstances, so she is doing an investigation on his death. When Suseela returns from a wedding in a cab, the driver kidnaps and misbehaves with her. Ganesh (Ajmal) saves her. Suseela thanks him but finds he has missed his pendrive and returns it to him. When they meet again, she realizes Ganesh is no gentleman when he tries to pursue her inappropriately. When Ganesh finds that Suseela is in love with Bharath, he warns her to cut off all ties with Bharath and come to him. Suseela meets Bharath and tells all the problems Ganesh created, but they find her client Roopala (Chaya Singh) trying to drown herself. They save her, and she tells about her problems with her abusive husband Vasanth (John Vijay) and in addition to her woes, she connected with a wrong person (Ganesh) who filmed her nude and blackmails her for money. Bharath goes after Ganesh and notices he owns the bike Vyjayanthi mentioned.

Retired businessman Murugesan (Anandaraj) tries to find female escorts but loses money and jewels thanks to Ganesh. Ganesh is actually a conman who operates with Anitha (Vidya Pradeep) and Maya (Suja Varunee), and they cheat wealthy people and extort money from them. Murugesan follows Ganesh and finds his address with Narain Vaidyanathan's (Aadukalam Naren) help. Bharath finds Ganesh's address and follows him to his house. Murugesan also goes to Ganesh's house. Bharath spots Murugesan walking past him. A neighbor notices the men and reports this to the police. When the police arrives to investigate, they learn that Maya is murdered in the house. Bharath is identified a suspect. He escapes from police amd assumes Murugesan is the killer, but the latter reveals he did not kill her and she was already dead when he went in the house. Narain reveals he is a victim of Ganesh. Maya befriended him online. Ganesh entered, threatened both at gunpoint, and stole Narain's money and car. The police found the car and returned it. Narain thought Maya disappeared from his life, but he saw her with Ganesh. Unable to bear Maya's betrayal, he goes to her house to kill her but found her already dead and a different man (Vasanth) leaving the house when he entered. Bharath looks for Vasanth and finds out he had an affair with Anitha. Ganesh filmed them together and blackmailed him for money. When Vasanth finds that Anitha was part of the scam, Ganesh beats him up. Vasanth goes to her house to kill them and exits before Narain enters.

When Ganesh blackmails Vasanth about his video with Anitha, he doesn't care much about it. Ganesh blackmails him with Roopala's nude video, and Vasanth gives money. Bharath follows Vasanth as he goes to Ganesh, and a fight ensues where Anitha and Ganesh are killed. Bharath tells Vasanth that the entire plan to extort money from him was made by Roopala. She wanted to separate from Vasanth and get money from him. She approached Anitha and Ganesh to help her make a video of Vasanth. Ganesh wanted to double-cross Roopala's plan and take the money for himself. In order to tackle Roopala, he and Anitha made a nude video of her and shut her off. Because of her inability to act against Vasanth and Ganesh, she tries to commit suicide. Ganesh then kills Maya. Bharath, Murugesan, Narain, and Vasanth enter the crime scene and become suspects. Roopala and Vasanth are arrested, and Bharath marries Suseela.

A major twist arrives in Vyjayanthi, who has been following Maya's murder. She calls Bharath, requesting his permission to write a book based on this event and says she made a few plot changes. She narrates the changed plot where, in his desperate desire for Suseela, Ganesh films her nude and threatens her. When Bharath comes to know of this and Roopala's video, he confronts Ganesh and erases both videos. Maya comes to know that Ganesh is after Suseela when he is seeing Anitha, so she threatens him to split the shares and if he does not, she will tell Anitha about Suseela. When Bharath and Suseela go to Ganesh's house to erase the videos, Maya gets killed. They erase the videos and leave the crime scene. Bharath frames Ganesh for Maya's murder. Bharath refuses to agree with Vyjayanthi's version and requests her to find an alternative. Later, he finds her murdered, implying her version of the story may be true.

Mu. Maran, an erstwhile assistant director to Raghava Lawrence and K. V. Anand, announced in February 2017 that his first directorial venture would be a crime thriller featuring Arulnithi in the lead role. Titled Iravukku Aayiram Kangal after a song from Kulamagal Radhai (1963), Maran revealed that the film was based on real life incidents which he had read about in newspapers.[1][2] While Arulnithi would portray a taxi driver, actress Mahima Nambiar was signed to play a nurse, after the director was impressed with her performance in Kuttram 23 (2017).[3] Actors Ajmal and Anandaraj also signed the project in March 2017, with filming starting during the month.[4] Initially, Vishal Chandrasekhar was selected as music composer for this film as depicted on the teaser of the film. But in a turn of events, Sam CS replaces Vishal as the music director.
