Ion Beam Applications
IBA (Ion Beam Applications SA) is a medical technology company based in Louvain-La-Neuve . The company was founded in 1986 by Yves Jongen as a spin-off of the Cyclotron Research Center of the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve (UCL). It employs about 1500 people in 40 locations. [1] The company is active in the field of proton therapy, dosimetry, Radiopharma solutions, industrial sterilisation and ionisation.[2]
IBA installed proton therapy equipment for Boston's Massachusetts General Hospital in 2001, and for Philadelphia's Penn Hospital in 2009.[3]
It is supplying equipment and services to Proton Partners International which is developing three Proton Beam Therapy centres in the United Kingdom. [4] [5]
It is a supporting member of Healthcare Belgium.[6]
