Ioannina International Airport (Greek: Διεθνής Αερολιμένας Ιωαννίνων) (IATA: IOA, ICAO: LGIO) is an airport located four kilometers from the city center of Ioannina, Greece. Its full name is Ioannina International Airport - King Pyrrhus.
History
- 1932: The airport of Ioannina is established.
- 1953: Construction of the original building of the terminal, 450m2
- 1965: Extension of the terminal by 450m2, the total size of the terminal is 900m2
- 1993: Extension of the terminal by 600m2, the total size of the terminal is 1.500m2
- 2007: Receives the name "King Pyrrhus"
- 2017: Start of operation of the New Control Tower and the New Taxiway
