The International School of Medicine created in March 2003 as part of the strategy for reforming the education system and improving the competitiveness of domestic universities. The main emphasis in the creation of the ISM was made on the creation of a modern dynamic educational institution that provides high quality training and has a competitive potential in the market of medical education. The mission of ISM is the export of higher medical education to the countries of Southeast Asia. Another important mission of the university is to promote the development of medical science in the Kyrgyz Republic and to provide high-quality medical services to the people of Kyrgyzstan. The ISM is registered in the leading international organizations of medical education: the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Institute of Medical Education (IIME), the Foundation for the Development of Medical Education and Science (FAIMER), the PhD Program in Biomedicine and Health in the EU (ORPHEUS).
