International Longevity Centre – UK

The International Longevity Centre-UK (ILC-UK) is an independent, non-partisan think-tank dedicated to addressing issues of longevity, ageing and population change. ILC-UK was established in 2000 and is a registered as a charity with the Charity Commission (no. 1080496).

Objectives

ILC-UK develops ideas, undertake research and create a forum for debate. Based in Westminster, much of its work is directed at the highest levels of government and the civil service, both in London and Brussels. ILC-UK works, often with key partner organisations, to inform important decision-making processes. ILC-UK is aided in this work by the Chief Executive, Baroness Sally Greengross, former director-general of Age Concern and now a cross-bench peer. The policy remit is broad, and covers everything from pensions and financial planning, to health and social care, housing design, and age discrimination. ILC-UK works primarily with central government, but also actively build relationships with local government, the private sector and relevant professional and academic associations.

International Longevity Center Global Alliance

ILC-UK is one of 17 International Longevity Centres Across the world. The International Longevity Center Global Alliance[1] includes centers in the USA, Japan,[2] France,[3] the Dominican Republic, India,[4] South Africa,[5] Argentina, the Netherlands,[6] Israel, the Czech Republic and Singapore.

The overarching aim of the alliance is to articulate a call to action from an interdisciplinary, intergenerational and life course perspective - promote and highlight the opportunities and challenges population ageing presents to modern society.
