"Inside My Love" is a 1975 single by Minnie Riperton from her album Adventures in Paradise. It was co-written by Riperton, Leon Ware and Richard Rudolph.

Critical reception

BBC news wrote "Of Ware’s tracks, the standout is Inside My Love, where ambiguous yet explicit sexual imagery is tempered by the innocence of Riperton’s vocal.[1]

In a positive review Andy Kellman wrote "Each of the Riperton/Rudolph/Ware songs ooze playful sensuality, desire, and lust -- especially "Inside My Love" (a Top 30 R&B single), a swooning slow jam filled with double entendres."[2]

Covers and samples

"Inside My Love" became somewhat of a standard, enjoying numerous covers. A Tribe Called Quest sampled the song in "Lyrics to Go" on their 1993 album Midnight Marauders. Chanté Moore covered it in 1995 for the “New York Undercover” soundtrack and Trina Broussard did the same for the soundtrack to “Love Jones” in 1997. Jean Jacques Smoothie sampled "Inside My Love" for his 2001 hit 2 People. In 1997 it appeared on the soundtrack of the Quentin Tarantino film Jackie Brown, and in 2008, it was featured on Grand Theft Auto IV's fictional Soul/R&B radio station The Vibe 98.8. The song was also sampled by Timbaland for singer Aaliyah's song “Heartbroken” from her 1996 album, One in a Million with Timbaland deepening Riperton's whistle register vocal note that came during an instrumental break of the song. It was also covered by British musician Delilah on her album From the Roots Up and is was released as a single. The song has been sampled by Donell Jones on the track "Lust or Love" from his 2006 album, Journey of a Gemini. 2Pac also sampled the song on the track "Me Against the World" from his 1995 album of the same name.

The guitar riff was sampled for the Rubberbandits' 2011 single "I Wanna Fight Your Father", with a more prominent feature of the riff in the Irish version "Ba Mhaith Liom Bruíon le d'Athair".
