Im Hyun-sik (Hangul: 임현식; born March 7, 1992), simply known as Hyunsik, is a South Korean singer-songwriter. He is best known as a member of South Korean boy group BtoB [2] and "Father Of BTOB's Music"[3].

Biography

Im Hyun-sik was born on March 7, 1992, in Seoul, South Korea. His father, Im Ji-hoon, is a South Korean folk singer.[4] He studied Practical Music at Howon University with group-mate Lee Chang-sub.[5]

He is known as Father of BTOB's Music because since debut period, he had showed his interest in writing lyrics, producing songs. He started really becoming and reborn as 'Producing-dol' in 2013 since the released of album Thriller where his song 'Star' was included as one of the tracks. After that, in the albums that Btob released, Im Hyunsik's self-produced songs will definitely add into one of the tracks without being left out. As a producer, his biggest advantage is having broad spectrum from folk to dance, tearing down the music boundary attempting many kinds of music. [6]

Career

Hyunsik debuted as the lead vocalist Cube Entertainment's boy group BtoB on March 22, 2012, with the promotional single, "Insane".[7] The group has released a total of 2 studio albums and 10 extended plays since debut.

Hyunsik has also participated in composition of several tracks by BtoB including, "Star", "Killing Me", "I'll Be Your Man (Pray)", "Missing You" and “Only One for Me”.[8][9][10][11][12]

In September 2016, Hyunsik became part of BtoB's first unit group, BtoB Blue (Korean: 비투비 블루) that consists of the group's vocalists. BtoB Blue released the digital single "Stand By Me" (Hangul: 내 곁에 서 있어줘; RR: Nae Gyeote Seo Isseojwo) on September 19, 2016.[13]
