Ifeoma Onyefulu

Ifeoma Onyefulu (born 1959 in Nigeria and lives as an expatriates in England) is a Nigerian children's author and novelist. She was born in Onitsha, Anambra, Nigeria.[2] She is a member of the Igbo ethnic group of Nigeria, and a professional photographer. Most of her books are geared towards young children, and feature her own colorful photographs of life in Africa. Through her books, she has introduced her English speaking audiences to the variety village life style in Nigeria[3]

Her works include:

  • Emeka's Gift - a counting book for young children
  • Chidi Only Likes Blue: an African Book of Colors
  • Ebele's Favorite: a Book of African Games
  • A Is for Africa- an alphabet book

Award

Her works have been valued in many exhibitions. "A is for Africa" which is her first book was chosen as one of Child Education's Best Information Books and Junior Education's Best Books. she has also won The Children's Africana Book Award twice. She equally won The Best Book for Young Children in the USA for "Here Comes the Bride" in 2005 and for "Ikenna Goes to Nigeria" in 2008.
