Ibrahim Šehić (Bosnian pronunciation: [ibrâːxim ʃêːxitɕ]; born 2 September 1988) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Süper Lig club BB Erzurumspor and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

Šehić started his career at Željezničar and moved to Mersin in 2011. Two years later, he joined Qarabağ, before signing with BB Erzurumspor in 2018.

A former youth international for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šehić made his senior international debut in 2010, earning 15 caps since.

Club career

Early career

Šehić came through Željezničar's youth academy, with whom he debuted professionally in 2007.[1] He was the youngest captain in club's history, being given the armband at the age of 20.[2]

In 2011, he was transferred to Turkish club Mersin and signed a five-year deal.[3] There were some irregularities regarding the transfer, as Mersin did not pay agreed transfer fee. Željezničar reported the case to FIFA, who ruled in their favor and forced the Turkish club to settle the obligation.[4]

Qarabağ

In October 2013, Šehić signed for Azerbaijan Premier League side Qarabağ on a free transfer.[5] A month later, he debuted in a goalless draw against Ravan Baku.[6] On 7 May 2014, Šehić won his first trophy with the club, as Qarabağ were crowned league champions.[7]

During his second season at Qarabağ, Šehić put pen to paper on a new contract expiring in June 2018.[8]

He helped the team make their first historical UEFA Champions League appearance in 2017–18 season.[9] Šehić really stood out as he was the goalkeeper with most saves in group stage of the competition, having made 35 saves in 6 games.[10] On 24 May 2018, it was announced that Šehić would leave Qarabağ at the end of the season, following the decision not to renew his contract.[11]

BB Erzurumspor

On 6 July 2018, Šehić was signed on a three-year contract by newly promoted Süper Lig club BB Erzurumspor.[12] On his competitive debut for the club, he kept a clean sheet in a goalless draw against Rizespor.[13]

International career

Šehić was a standard member of Bosnia and Herzegovina under-21 side.[14]

In May 2010, Šehić was called-up to Bosnia and Herzegovina senior team for the first time,[15] but had to wait until 17 November 2010 to make his debut, in a friendly game against Slovakia.[16]
