The IWA Caribbean Heavyweight Championship ("Campeonato Peso Pesado del Caribe de la IWA" in Spanish), was a Regional championship defended in the International Wrestling Association in Puerto Rico. Wrestlers from the Caribbean were eligible for this championship.

Title history

Championship was announced on October 13, 2008 via IWA's website[1] but it was not until February 14, 2009 at "Noche de Campeones" in Bayamon, Puerto Rico that it was determined a champion.[2] The Inaugural champion was "Ravishing Richard" (Also known as "Richard Rondon"), he won a 15 Man Tornado Rumble Match by last eliminating Cruzz (Also Known as "Ricky Cruz"), participants of the match were: Atomo, Balbuena, Eli Rodriguez, Escorpión (Also Known as "Vassago"), Onix, Niche, Bacano, Raymond Sales, Diabolico, Spectro, Zaer Arafat & Hardan Kadafi (A Tag Team Called "La Amenaza Arabe", Rainstein, Cruzz & Ravishing Richard.

On Impacto Total show of May 15, 2009 General Manager "Joe Bravo" handed the title from "Diabolico" to "Ash Rubinsky" because the title was not defended in 30 days,[3] Ash would lose the title in a week to "Rico Casanova" in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico,[4] then many months later, the championship would be Vacated by GM Miguel Perez because the title hadn't been defended from IWA's live event called "Summer Attitude" on July, 2010.[5]

Championship would be unified with the "IWA Puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship" on February 26, 2011, on that Match "Xix Xavant" defeated Romeo to Unify the titles.[6]

Title would be back on IWA's last year for the "IWA/EWO Clash of the Titans" Show, a co-promoted one with another Puerto Rican Wrestling promotion called "EWO". On this show, the winner of the match was Cyrus who won a 8 Man "Lucha X" Match where he defeated 8 participants who were: The Magestic Nefi, "The Puerto Rican Dragon" Taekyon, "The Fighther" Cyrus, "El Gerente Interino" Jay-Cobs, Luis Estilo, Mike Piconose, ''El Apostador'' Jack Daniels & Slayer (Also Known as "Syler Andrews").
