iShares Russell 1000

iShares Russell 1000 Index Fund is an exchange-traded fund of US stocks. The fund tracks the Russell 1000 index. The ticker is IWB.

IWB was commenced on May 15, 2000; there are also the more popular IShares Russell 1000 Value Index (NYSE: IWD) (about $7 bn AUM as of early 2009) and IShares Russell 1000 Growth Index (NYSE: IWF) (about $9 bn AUM as of early 2009), and the IShares Russell 2000 Index (NYSE: IWM) ETF, all of which were commenced on May 22, 2000.

Competition

The two funds based on subindexes, iShares Russell 1000 Growth (NYSE Arca: IWF) and iShares Russell 1000 Value (NYSE Arca: IWD), are bigger than the iShares Russell 1000 fund. iShares Russell 1000 competes with funds based on the S&P 500, such as the SPDR S&P 500.[1][2]
