The IEEE Medal for Innovations in Healthcare Technology was established by the IEEE Board of Directors in 2009. This award is presented for outstanding contributions and/or innovations in engineering within the fields of medicine, biology, and healthcare technology.[1]

The award is presented annually to an individual, team, or multiple recipients up to five in number. It was presented for the first time in 2010.

Recipients of this medal receive a gold medal, bronze replica, certificate and honorarium.
