Born in Bilbao, Biscay, Basque Country, Muñoz finished his formation with CF Somorrostro. On 15 June 2016, he signed for SD Gernika Club, in Segunda División B.[1]

Muñoz made his senior debut on 21 August 2016, starting in a 1–2 away loss against UD San Sebastián de los Reyes. He scored his first goal six days later, netting his team's third in a 4–1 home routing of CDA Navalcarnero.

On 30 March 2017, Muñoz agreed to a two-year contract with Athletic Bilbao, which was made effective on 1 July;[2] he was subsequently assigned to the reserves also in the third division. On 25 October he made his first team debut, coming on as a second-half substitute for Ager Aketxe in a 1–1 away draw against SD Formentera, for the season's Copa del Rey.[3][4]
