Hugo Becker (born 13 May 1987) is a French actor and director. He is known for his roles as Louis Grimaldi in the American television drama Gossip Girl and Romain in the French thriller series Chefs.

Career

Hugo Becker attended the Conservatory of dramatic art in France, the court Florent (Olga Hörstig Prize) and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art of London

Art1. He also was part of the promotion of Young Talents Cannes in 2010. That same year, he made his debut on screen with a variety of roles. He plays a young politician in L'Assaut, directed by Julien Leclercq, an alcoholic hitchhiker in La Proie, directed by Eric Valette, a student in Marie-Castille Mention Schaar’s Ma première fois, or a young businessman in La Croisière, by Pascale Pouzadoux. He can also be seen in two French television series in which he plays a criminal and a young detainee.

In 2010, he acts for the American television, playing Louis Grimaldi, Prince of Monaco, in the Gossip Girl series. He signs for two episodes in the fourth season, as the filming takes place in Paris. Later, he resumes his role but signs this time for twenty episodes, the filming taking place in New York City. [1]

In 2011, he plays one of the main roles of the film Damsels in Distress, directed by Whit Stillman (Oscar nominated for his film Metropolitan). He acted in New York alongside Greta Gerwig and Adam Brody. The film closed the 68th Venice Film Festival and was selected at the Toronto Film Festival.

In 2012, Hugo plays Antoine Lavoisier in the American docu-fiction Mystery of the Matter, directed by Mr. Meyer. He is part of Drake Doremus' next project (Sundance Festival with Like Crazy) alongside Guy Pearce (Memento) and Felicity Jones and is announced in the cast of the TV series Jo, with Jean Reno.

He also is the reader of Ray Bradbury's Martian Chronicles audiobook, for the Thélème editions, he was selected by the Prix de la Plume 2013.

In 2013, Hugo plays Isaac Dreyfuss, a football star involved in a terrorist affair, for two episodes of a BBC3 series.[2]

In 2014, he plays the role of Romain in the 6 episodes of the miniseries Chefs alongside Clovis Cornillac, for which he gets the Adami Prize of the best promising actor at the Luchon festival.[3][4][5]

In 2015, he plays the lead role in the 12 episodes French series entitled Au service de la France, written by Jean-François Halin, for Arte, in which he is André Merlaux, young recruit of the French secret service, in 1960.Au service de la France, in which he plays a spy.[6][7][8]

In 2016, he plays Cyril Balsan in the TV series Baron Noir alongside Niels Arestrup, Kad Merad and Anna Mouglalis. He also starts the year in Spain with one of the main roles in the Bajo Sospecha series, broadcast on Antena 3; he plays in Spanish the role of a police officer infiltrated to find a missing person in a hospital in Madrid, alongside Yon González and Lluís Homar. He also plays the role of Guillaume in the comedy Un jour mon prince, by Flavia Coste.

In 2018, he plays in Xavier Durringer's Paradise Beach alongside Sami Bouajila, Kool Shen, Seth Gueko and Tewfik Jallab. And in Zone Franche, by Mohamed Hamidi, with Gilles Lellouche, Malik Bentalha and Sabrina Ouazani.

In 2019, he is announced in the Netflix original series Osmosis, with Agathe Bonitzer. Also in The last journey of the enigmatic Paul WR, by Romain Quirot and in Döner by Jean-Luc Herbulot. Hugo Becker is fluent in French, English and Spanish.

Since 2014, he is one of the producers at Nouvelle Donne Productions.
