Hugh Joseph McDermott from the Bionic Ear Institute, University of Melbourne, East Melbourne, Vic, Australia was named Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2012[1] for contributions to improved sound-processing techniques for cochlear implants and hearing aids.
