Hover Strike[lower-alpha 1] is a shooter video game developed and published by Atari Corporation in North America on April 1995 and Europe on May of the same year.[1][2] It was also published in Japan by Messe Sansao on the same year as well.[3]

Gameplay

The game takes place in the future where the hero is placed in a Hovercraft. The game allows you to shoot your way through 30 different 3D levels which include terrain like ice, water, mountains and an enemy base you must infiltrate. Some of the weapons include guided missiles, missiles, grenades and lasers. Most of the enemies in the game are low flying aircraft that follow and shoot at the player. There are also turrets and enemy hovercrafts that are on the battlefield. Most of the missions order you to take down a certain amount of enemy rockets, sensors,or re spawning bases. Like T-Mek, it began life as an update to the classic arcade game Battlezone but was renamed when it drifted from the source material.

Next Generation reviewed the Jaguar version of the game, rating it two stars out of five, and stated that "despite some interesting challenges, this is, unfortunately, a serious simulator misfire."[15]

Legacy

A remake, entitled Hover Strike: Unconquered Lands, was released for the Atari Jaguar CD in October 23 of the same year.[21] The remake featured improved graphics and additional levels.

In 1996, the game's trademark was abandoned.[22][23]

In May 2017, the game's source code was made freely available on a Jaguar-dedicated Facebook group.[24]
